Bomb Brows

Eyebrows are like the windows to your face, and if you don't have the right curtains, their just plain old windows.

So, here are a few simple steps to follow to achieve your best brows!

Take a pencil & hold it straight up to the side of your nose, wherever it hits, this is where your eyebrows should begin.

...then, gently move the pencil to the middle of your pupil, thats where your arch should be.

...After you've found your beginning & arch, time to find the end!

Move the pencil to the outer corner of your eye, that's where your eyebrow ends!!

OK!! Now that we've covered the basics of your eyebrows, let's get to the real work!

STEP 1: PREP YOUR BROWS!

Always clean the area you'll be working on with a Q-TIP soaked in toner. This will keep you from breaking out in that area and getting bacteria into your pores.

After you've cleaned the area, TRIM THAT BUSH!!! Take an eyebrow brush and comb upwards, trim the extra hairs that are sticking out. Make sure not to go crazy and cut too much!!

STEP 2: TWEEZE!

Start under the beginning of your eyebrows (the side closest to your nose) and work outwards. Pluck each hair one by one.

TIPS:
* When dying your hair, remember to also dye your eyebrows!
* In case you have some gaps, fill it in with color! Just don't
be too heavy, put just enough to fill in the gap.

Here's an example of Angie's Perfect brows!!

Eyebrows are meant to FRAME your face...if they look like this...you've gone too far!!

Embrace your imperfections!

HAPPPPPPPPPY NEW YEAR!!! New year, new you! Every single year, we all make that one resolution that always seems to die out a few months into the year, make this year different. As for us... we're gonna try something different this year! We're gonna start scheduling our weeks, and writing down our priorities so we can actually get something done. One main reason people don't reach their goals is because their not organized. ORGANIZATION IS KEY! ..So is preparing ahead of time. When you wake up and your day is planned for you, there are no excuses to forget. It's easier to forget when you say you'll remember something, we know you've all been there!!! So we encourage you all to make weekly schedules and put it where you can see it at all times, because if you don't do whats on the list, it won't disappear into the air, it'll still be on that paper, staring at you!! Make this year different and reach your goals!!

Put an inspirational quote, picture or anything that inspires you, next to your bedside so it'll kick your ass out of bed & get you going! You'll be surprised at how much you can get done.

And this year, instead of trying to change your flaws, embrace them. No one can rock your look like you can!! Try to play up your unique style of beauty, but warning: DON'T OVERDUE IT! Whether you have, nice skin, high cheekbones, luscious lips, big eyes, perfect eyebrows, or whatever it maybe, trying playing it up.

The order we usually do make-up is:
#1: Foundation
#2: Concealer
#3: Eyeshadow
#4: Eyeliner
#5: Mascara
#6: Powder
#7: Blush
#8: Lipstick (or Lip gloss)

That's our typical make-up routine, but there are NO RULES WHEN IT COMES TO MAKE-UP!!! Make-up is an art, so express yourself!!

There's no place like home!!

Good evening Ladies!! We have a homemade face cleanser that we absolutely love!
This is so convenient that you can make it out of your own pantry.
Here it goes:

Milky Honey Oatmeal Cleanser:
1/2 cup ground oatmeal
1/2 cup organic milk
1 Tbsp. Honey

Mix all ingredients really good, and massage it into the skin gently.
Rinse it off with warm water. Oh and make sure to refrigerate after each use.
This will leave your skin super soft & clean.

It's as simple as that!!

Next we have a simple face mask that is really good for combination skin.

Orange & Yogurt mask:
Grated rind of one orange.
1/2 cup of organic yogurt

Mix the the ingredients & apply to skin.
Leave the mask on for 10 minutes then rinse.

Oranges contain citric acid, which exfoliates & adds life to dull skin.

These are super simple home remedies that during the recession, everyone can afford!

So enjoy it & remember, everyone deserves some pampering ;)

P.S. There are more where these came from!! Keep checkin' back!

The Price we pay...

The beauty industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. We spend hundreds of dollars buying, trying, wasting, hoping & wishing for beauty products to work. But what are you REALLY paying for your products? Well guess what we found out, while doing some research we found out that the average cost of the cosmetic product is about 10% of what you pay. Where do you shop at- Bloomies or drugstores? Think of it this way, a bottle of moisturizer costs about $30 at a department store, $15 goes to the cosmetic company and $15 goes to the department store, and guess how much goes into making the product? $3...!!! The gross profit of the company is $12.. funny huh? We pay that $30 for something that took $3 to make. Keep that in mind the next time you go shopping! That's why it's important to know what is in your product.. even though some ingredients cost more to make, you'll never really know whats worth paying for, until you learn to read the labels.

The No-No's:
*The Irritator's- Citrus Oils and propylparaben.

*The Clogger's- Isopropyl Myristate, Coco Butter, Mineral Oil, and Lanolin.

NOTE: In one of our previous blogs we wrote that Mineral Oil is the safest of all oils; it is the preferred oil in cosmetics but it is best avoided by people with oily skin & has been known to clog pores.

These are only a FEW of

The Ya-Ya's:

Royal jelly, collagen and aloe vera.

Products made of these things need to be refrigerated in order for you to get any benefit.

**** Beware cosmetic companies can be as evil and low as cheating boyfriends! I say this because SOMETIMEZZZZZZ the FDA allows them to keep their secret ingredients to stay as "trade secret status" that pretty much means that they don't have to appear on the bottle label and gets listed under "other ingredients".....

"Light" up your holidays! ;)

Hey beautifuls! We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas! We hope you've all been good little powder puffs and Santa put what (or who ;)) you wanted under your Christmas tree! We've had a little delay in updating because of all of the holiday chaos but we're back muhaha ;)Oh & Happy Hanukkah also! So we've been spending the last few days getting all the information ready to post up.

While doing last minute Christmas shopping, we couldn't help but notice Women who looked like they did their make-up in the "dark". I'm sure everyone has seen this at least once or twice. I'm sure they really didn't mean for it to come out that way, but make-up looks different in your bathroom mirror than it looks outside.

The best lighting you could possibly use to do your make-up is by a window or on the balcony, pretty much anywhere that daylight falls. If you REALLY wanna know what you're face will look like, do it under daylight. That way you can get all the nicks and crannies covered up then maybe your face will actually look like it belongs on your neck.

As for make-up artists: THE LIGHT GUY IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!! Make sure you find out what kind of light is being used. You may have done the hottest make-up ever but under the type of light their using it may look like crap. Depending on the light you use in the make-up room will determine the amount of imperfections which you'll be able to see. The best light to use is "White Light" (5000 kelvin). The reason it's the best to use is because it emits a full spectrum which has an equal amount of each of the three light primaries (Red, blue, green)which produces what is called "pure white light". This tube is also called Chroma 50.

And for all you night owls, don't worry about the daylight, do your makeup in the lightest-light you can find (Car lights don't count!).

This is it for now, there's a big plate of leftovers & dirty dishes waiting for us byee :)

What's in a name? ..

There are about a trillion make-up brands out there. Of course we all want the best, the more expensive and the one with the best brand name, but the truth is, it's not about the brand, it's about what's in it. If you know the look you want to achieve, what's in the make-up matters.

Make-Up is basically made of two parts: The Vehicle and the Pigment.
-The Vehicle is what carries the pigment from one area to another. It it can be made of oils and waxes or water and polyglycerin.
-Pigment is material which is made up of color.

So basically that is what your make-up is made of.

Some ingredients can be the source of your skin problems are:

-Isopropyl Myristate: Used as an oil in make-up & has been known to cause blackheads and acne.
-Lanolin: Clogs pores and becomes rancid over-time.

Mineral OILis the safest of all oils and it is the preferred oil in cosmetics.

This is basic information that every make-up artist needs to know.
